Gangrene (Greek: gangraina - decay) is a type of necrosis in which a living body, organ, or part of a tissue dies. It is found in all tissues and organs (skin, subcutaneous fat, muscles, intestines, gallbladder, lungs), and most commonly in the limbs and abdomen. Gangrene mainly develops in areas and organs where blood vessels are scarce (eg, fingers, toes, earlobes). Crushing, cooling, burning of tissues and organs, loss of blood supply, thrombus, embolism (see Thrombosis, Embolism) (vascular injury or narrowing in atherosclerosis, etc.), various mechanical, chemical (acid, alkali effects) and physical factors (Temperatures above 50 ° or below 20 °, alpha or beta rays) can lead to gangrene.
