Traces of ancient civilizations have been found in the Tashkent region, including Stone Age settlements, Bronze Age settlements, ancient castles, fortresses, and rock carvings. Bukhara, known as the regional center of Islamic culture, has a rich history dating back to the 2nd century BC. It was mentioned for the first time during the conquest of the Persian king Cyrus in the 6th century BC. The region was also a significant stop for Indian and Chinese trade caravans.
