Anoftalmiya is the underdevelopment of eyes or eye sockets; both primary and clinical types exist. It can be unilateral or bilateral. Causes include genetic mutations (SOX2, OTX2), environmental factors. Diagnosis includes prenatal ultrasound, neonatal MRI, genetic testing. Treatment involves orbital expansion and prosthesis, starting 3-6 months after birth, multidisciplinary care is important
