Results from exposure to vibration (4 to 5000 Hz) over a period of one month to 30 years. Symptoms include circulatory issues (vasospasm) leading to local finger blanching. Commonly known as vibration-induced white finger. Symptoms first noticed in the tips of the fingers most affected by vibration, especially on cold, wet, and windy mornings. Intermittent numbness or tingling may precede finger blanching. Vasospasm is often asymmetrical, reflecting the subject's grip on the vibrating tool. With continued exposure, vasospasm can progress proximally and affect other fingers.
